Omschrijving Inhoud (EN)

Creating web pages with HTML, CSS and code in JavaScript

PART 1: HTML & CSS

- Learning to write semantically correct and valid HTML5
- Semantic blocks, lists, navigation, tables, forms, ... are taught to build a semantically strong HTML page
- Modern CSS techniques that allow an effortless transition to responsive design at a later stage, with a very good knowledge of the box model at the core
- Css selectors (introductory to advanced) and how to use them for efficient code
- All CSS properties needed to create a contemporary web application
- Flex

PART 2: DOM scripting

Following the latest ECMAScript standard - prior knowledge of JavaScript from OLOD Programming Fundamentals required!

Required prior knowledge in JavaScript:
- Variables and operators; scope
- if, while, for
- Functions and Arrays
- Objects and JSON

Contents DOM scripting

- DOM selection, traversal and manipulation
- Event handling ( binding, this, e object, bubbling,...)
- Event delegation
- Iterative operations on different collections (forEach, for in, for of, ...)
- Arrow functions and anonymous functions
- Interaction with elements from the web page and JavaScript (retrieval, write away,...)
- Timers / intervals

GENERAL ( applies to all sections)

Code quality is a major part of this course. We always develop our applications with behavior in different browsers on different platforms in mind (cross browser & - device development). Several best practices are highlighted as well as some “Don't ”s, often by way of example. Not valid code results in a zero score at this OLOD.

Use of git for creating and submitting delivered work is intrinsic to this module.
